Impala Skates Controversy History

Hi guys, I their has been a lot of hate comments over the past year about the impala skates, almost all over the internet and I am confused. I mean, not the impala skates I speak so much highly of.

So here’s what I did; I took some time to carry out extensive research about what was going on and bring the gist to you guys!

Yes, I talk about all things skates, and the history and truth behind this controversy issue about the impala skates would certainly be something you want to hear about.

While these trends may have died down by now, I still want to talk about it and hear your thoughts about your impala skates and how they were for you.

Don’t get me wrong, I really do love my impala roller skates, most of everything people talked about and had proof of the impala skates being shitty, I didn’t really experience or see them with while using my impala skates.

I’m not saying, that I support them, but if their stories I’ve heard are actually true, then I’m really disappointed that the company could do people dirty like that. I mean, I get they’re quite affordable roller skates, especially for beginners, but the fact that your very first roller skates did not last for 2 months at the very least is indeed heartbreaking and highly unacceptable. And I think everybody that bought the impala skates should be refunded at least.

If you’re a bit confused at this point, here’s a break down on what the impala skates controversy is all about. Many top instagram skaters came out and spoke against the impala skates. They laid claims that the impala skates were in fact very horrible skates and would not be recommended for any level skater. According to the information I gathered, the skates always had ripped heel, you’re lucky to find a pair that didn’t (I guess I was lucky). A lot of skaters complained about this issue on their Instagram stories, Twitter, FaceBook, etc.

After reading a long thread of horrible remarks about the impala skates, I can’t say I feel happy. And I feel that the company shouldn’t have taken advantage of them simply because their skates are really affordable.

What do I think about the whole drama?

Well, as someone who recommends skates to the community, I don’t think there’s anything I will say that will change your personal opinions. But regardless of all of that, I’ll still like to make an input.

What did you think when you saw the price??

I mean, I actually expected that the impala skates won’t last very long because I bought them at really affordable prices. To my surprise it lasted about 9 months and is still very useable right now, although I barely make use of them these days since I am concentrating more on rollerblading and ice skating.

Here’s my opinion; I think that the impala roller skates are a good pick if you are still indecisive on whether or not you’re going to be roller skating in the long run.

About a year and 7 months ago, I was still new to skating I got  a lot of other recommendations such as the sure-grip, and Moxi Lolly skates. However, I still decided to go for the impala roller skates because of the following reasons.

  1. They shipped the products very fast. Faster than most other brands out there.
  2. They were relatively cheaper than most skates although I was still going to upgrade them to better ones.
  3. Almost every influencer then praised impala skates and I thought “why not buy them?”

Now that I have experienced them for myself, I totally loved them and they did everything a beginner skates were required to do.

But, on another note, a friend of mine that I started training with got the same pairs I got and after a while she complained that the roller skates were shitty and she regrets buying them. She said the heels kept pulling out even after she’d taken them for repairs. She also went further to send messages to their social media account regarding what she should do about her roller skate, but unfortunately she didn’t get a reply so she had to go for a new pair of roller skates from a different brand. Sure-grip to be precise.

My experience aside if a lot of expert skaters knew about this fault in the impala roller skates and still continued to recommend them to beginners, then that’s just outrightly sad if you asked me. Because why would you encourage people to spend their money on stuff that won’t even last up to a month. It’s grossly unfair.

In fact I think that the impala roller skates should be removed from the beginner friendly skates out there. Because from the looks of it you won’t get your money’s worth except you’re as lucky as I was to receive great skates from the company.

In other words, getting impala skates is almost like you’re gambling your money. You either get good skates or you don’t. And trust me, from the information I have gathered, the odds are not in the favor of getting goods impala skates which is a really sad thing.

I saw a comment where a guy wrote that the impala lasted for him 2-3 weeks. That’s totally unacceptable, because what the actual hell?

Are you shocked? Because I am.

Three weeks! That’s the amount of time I take to break in some of my skates and someone said his skates lasted 3 weeks. Lol

Complete shocker indeed.

I guess why people fell for them and still went ahead to purchase them is because they really have a great way of advertising their products. If you’ve never seen any of their commercials and adverts you should definitely go check them out to understand what I’m saying better. The whole scene and pretty ladies skating with actual joy and happiness In their eyes will definitely grab your attention and futher convince you to buy it at the end of the day.

Should you go ahead to buy the impala skates?

It would really suck if I said yes and then you go ahead to buy the impala skates and they turn out shitty like they did for my friend.

Sadly these days, almost every skating community recommends getting the impalas and the Moxi Lolly skates (the Moxi skates are great by the way and shouldn’t be dragged into whatever mess the impalas got themselves involved in)

I feel like people should take their time and explore for other roller skates especially for the beginners rather than just settling for the impala because a bunch of people recommended them. These days I’m beginning to take Instagram and YouTube reviews with a grain of salt because I feel like everybody is lying out there simply because they’re getting paid to influence products that virtually everybody complained about.

I’d hate to see a beginner quit skating just because their impala roller skates keep frustrating them and never last long enough for them to master roller skating full time. If you check the expert community, you’ll see that these skates are rarely ever spoken of or mentioned in their contents simply because they do not use the impalas.

You’ll also want to know that the impalas have quality control issue.

Could this information get any worse!

So, if you’re going ahead to buy the impala skates, I want you to know that it is a game of luck as some people get their money’s worth while others may not. So buy at your own risk and for your own perosnal reason. Try not to drag other beginners along with you and allow them make their decisions on their own.

Conclusion

I’m totally disappointed about what I got to find out about the impala skates. Do you feel the same way?

Although I wasn’t much of a skater when this drama was heated and everybody was talking about it, it still hurts to know that something like this actually happened. I’m lucky have been among the 30% of skaters that got a nice pair of impalas, but what of the other 70%?
